Kongjian Network Technology (Shanghai) Co., Ltd ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, share, and protect your personal information when you use the ThisTrail (这里走) application (the "App") and related services. Please read this Privacy Policy carefully before using the App.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information in three ways: information you provide directly, information generated automatically when you use the App, and information we receive from third parties.

1.1 Information You Provide

  • Account Data: When you register, we may collect your username, email address, phone number, etc. You may also sign in via Apple, Google, or other third-party accounts, through which we receive information you authorize.
  • Profile Data: You may optionally provide an avatar, nickname, age, height, weight, outdoor preferences, and other information to complete your profile.
  • User Generated Content: Trail recordings, waypoint markers, photos, videos, reviews, comments, posts, and associated metadata (time, location, device info, etc.).
  • Emergency Contact Data: You may optionally add emergency contacts with names and phone numbers for sending distress messages in case of emergency.
  • Payment Data: When purchasing premium features, sensitive payment card details are processed directly by third-party payment processors (Apple Pay, Alipay, WeChat Pay, etc.). We do not store your full payment card information.
  • Contacts Data: You may allow the App to access your contacts to identify friends using the App. You can revoke this permission at any time in your device settings.

1.2 Information Generated Automatically

  • Location Data: The App's core functionality relies on location data. When using trail recording, we collect precise location via GPS (including BeiDou, GLONASS, Galileo) and network positioning. Background location may be used for continuous recording. You can disable location permissions in device settings, though core features will not function properly.
  • Log Data: IP address, device model, OS version, app version, browser type, access times, and usage patterns.
  • Device Data: Device model, OS, screen resolution, sensor data (barometer, compass/geomagnetic for altitude and direction), battery level.
  • Usage and Activity Data: Content viewed, features used, actions taken, activity duration, frequency, and estimated calorie burn.
  • Cookies and Similar Technologies: Used to operate the App, personalize your experience, and analyze usage.

1.3 Information from Third Parties

When you sign in via Apple, Google, or other third-party accounts, we receive information according to your authorization settings. Third-party SDKs integrated into the App (maps, analytics, etc.) may also provide us with anonymized statistical data.

2. How We Use Information

We use collected information for the following purposes:

  • Service Delivery: Using location data for trail recording, navigation, return guidance, and team location sharing.
  • Account Management: Creating and managing your account, identity verification, customer support.
  • Service Improvement: Analyzing usage and performance, optimizing user experience, fixing bugs.
  • Security: Detecting, preventing, and responding to fraud, abuse, and security incidents.
  • Legal Compliance: Complying with legal obligations and responding to lawful government requests.
  • Marketing: With your consent, sending product updates and promotional information. You can unsubscribe at any time.

3. Data Storage

  • Local Storage: Trail recordings, waypoints, and other core data are stored locally on your device by default. You can manage, export, or delete this data at any time.
  • Cloud Sync (Optional): If you enable cloud sync, your data will be encrypted and transmitted to our servers for multi-device synchronization. Our servers are located in China.
  • Offline Use: The App supports offline use. Data collected offline is stored locally and synced when connectivity returns, based on your settings.
  • Retention: We keep your personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy, unless a longer retention period is required by law. Upon account deletion, we will delete or anonymize your data within a reasonable timeframe.

4. Information Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in the following circumstances:

  • With Your Consent: Sharing with third parties you designate, with your explicit consent.
  • Service Providers: We may engage third-party service providers (cloud services, analytics, customer support, etc.) to process data on our behalf under contractual safeguards.
  • Legal Requirements: When required by law, to respond to lawful government requests, to protect public safety, or to protect our legal rights.
  • Business Transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, reorganization, or asset sale, your information may be transferred as part of the transaction.
  • Other Users: Based on your privacy settings, your profile and certain content may be visible to other users. Content posted in public areas is visible to all users.

5. Third-Party Services

The App may integrate third-party SDKs or services such as map services and social media. These third parties collect and process data according to their own privacy policies. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third parties. Please review their respective privacy policies.

Third-party services that may be used include: map services (e.g., Apple Maps), payment services, and analytics tools.

6. Health Data Integration

The App may support integration with Apple Health (HealthKit), Google Fit, and other health data platforms. You may choose to share health data such as steps, heart rate, and energy expenditure with the App. Health data shared with us is used solely for in-app display and analysis, will not be used for advertising or marketing, and will not be sold to data brokers or advertising platforms. You can revoke sharing permissions at any time within the health platform.

7. Your Rights

Depending on applicable privacy laws, you may have the following rights:

  • Access: View your personal information and trail data stored in the App.
  • Correction: Correct inaccurate personal information.
  • Deletion: Delete trail recordings, profile data, or request account deletion. Upon account deletion, we will permanently delete or anonymize your data (unless otherwise required by law).
  • Data Portability: Export your trail data in standard formats (GPX, etc.).
  • Withdraw Consent: Revoke granted permissions (location, contacts, health data, etc.) through device settings at any time.
  • Unsubscribe: Opt out of marketing communications at any time via the unsubscribe link in emails or by contacting us.

8. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you are a parent or guardian and believe we have inadvertently collected information about a child under 16, please contact us immediately and we will delete such data.

9. Data Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information, including SSL/TLS encryption, access controls, data anonymization, security audits, and employee training. We monitor for and respond to data security incidents in accordance with applicable laws.

Please note that no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security. You should understand and accept this inherent risk when using the App.

10. International Data Transfers

Our servers are located in China, and your personal information is primarily stored and processed domestically. If cross-border data transfers become necessary, we will conduct security assessments and obtain your separate consent in accordance with applicable laws.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted on this page with the "Last Updated" date revised. For material changes, we will also notify you through in-app notices or email. Please review this policy periodically. Continued use of the App constitutes acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
